About LeRoc Dance
Leroc is a modern form of partner dance which takes elements from dances such as salsa, rock n roll and ballroom and combines it with a simplified footwork to make it easy to dance from the offset and also means that LeRoc can be danced to pretty much any type of music, making it great for social occasions.
LeRoc differs from other forms of modern Jive as it has a specific form and footwork which is approved by the UKA (United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers
of Dance) this has three main benefits to it.
The first benefit being that all of our teachers will teach to the same model unlike some forms of modern jive where the same move can be taught a number of different ways depending on the teacher leaving the dancers confused and unsure as to the 'right way' of doing it.
The second is that the footwork is taught in the beginner’s class (unlike some other forms of MJ) giving you a strong foundation for when you start to learn more difficult moves, but don’t worry there is nothing difficult about the footwork at all.
The third is that using the LeRoc footwork (which is only the basic mechanics to any form of partner dance) will eliminate the need to bounce after each move (something that happens a lot in Modern Jive). By adopting the basic principles of partner dance in modern Jive your moves will flow into each other and even basic moves will turn peoples heads on the dance floor.
